Portfolio

Axis12 Ltd has a wealth of experience of working with clients in all sectors; including Capita group and the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi in the private sector, and the Department for Education and COI in the public sector.   We are chief Drupal and SOLR advisors to the Tate group and a number of other high profile organisations in the UK.

We appreciate that different environments require different approaches to website technology projects. Through many years experience of consulting work, contract roles and contract development we are comfortable working with clients in all sectors.

Some examples of our work are below.  If you are interested in seeing specific examples, that are not included here, please let us know.

Teachfind

Technology: Drupal 7
Dates: April – June 2011
URL: www.teachfind.com

Project Summary: We designed this site partially in response to the growing need for a searchable repository of Government content that was being decommissioned, and partly as a showcase for our Drupal/SOLR/Nutch/Caching expertise. This site uses Nutch crawls, RSS feeds, SOLR search and indexing, “More like this” suggestions, synonym files, spelling correction, predictive search suggestions, and many other techniques to intelligently surface data. It also employs advanced caching strategies including ESI, memcached, and varnish. The site sits on a combination of data centre based hardware and Amazon’s cloud storage and CDN (using EC2 and S3), which makes the site a seamlessly scalable offering allowing it to cope with traffic spikes from all corners of the globe without latency.

The development included the migration of 50,000 content items from 35 individual sites into a single repository. The site also included a very active community that collaborated with themselves and the National Strategies via groups and discussions. Another key functional aspect of the site were the case studies, which allowed users to enter details of best practice teaching approaches, including attachments giving visual examples. At its peak the site attracted approximately 500,000 page views and 50,000 unique visitors a day. The site is now archived due to change in governments, however it is available for viewing at the link provided above.
