The Client

Civil Service Learning provides effective recruitment, learning and data analysis services. With the aim of enhancing the experience of people applying to the Civil Service. As well as improving the working life of civil servants.

The Civil Service Learning website is an internal-facing transactional service. It supports and administers learning for its approximately 415,000 users. It includes both mandatory and non-mandatory training. Which is in the form of both e-learning and face-to-face training.

The Challenge

Civil Service Learning required support, hosting and maintenance for their website. Providers must adhere with guidelines provided by the National Cyber Security Centre. Cloud Security Guidance provide the guidelines for hosting services. Cloud Security Principles for design, running, implementation and decommissioning of services.

Our team deliver support, hosting and maintenance of the Civil Service Learning website:

Hosting and operations
Our team work with Civil Service Learning in a 'shared responsibility model'. We maintain a secure and performant hosting environment. With responsibility for configuring and deploying cloud services.

We provide multiple environments for development, testing and live (production). All test environments mirror the live website and its setup. Used for the purposes of pre-production, staging or user acceptance testing.

User support
Our team provide second and third-line support for the website and Moodle system (VLE). Responding, investigating and resolving issues and problems. Whether received from first-line support (help desk) or the CSL Digital Teams.

Maintenance of servers and systems
Our dedicated support team access bulk live data (classified as Official Sensitive data). They are Security Cleared (SC) and have undergone Counter Terrorism Checks (CTC).

This team track the websites for vulnerabilities. Applying all necessary patches and upgrades to maintain security, integrity and availability.

Our work helps to support the Civil Service Learning website. Ensuring that training is available for users to access as and when they need it.
