Who is Civil Service Learning?

Civil Service Learning provides effective recruitment, learning and data analysis services that enhance the experience of people applying to the Civil Service and improve the working life of civil servants. The team is newly formed and is part of HR Expert Services in the Cabinet Office and is responsible for Civil Service Learning, Civil Service Jobs, analysing and optimising the quality of the learning offer, digital recruitment elements of Fast Stream and Fast Track and Job Share Finder.

The Civil Service Learning website is an internal-facing transactional service that supports and administers learning for the Civil Service. The website is used by approximately 415,000 users and includes mandatory and non-mandatory training in the form of e-learning and face-to-face training.

The service we provide

Axis12 deliver the business as usual (BAU) support, hosting and maintenance of the Civil Service Learning website over three key areas:

Hosting and operations

Axis12 maintain a secure and performant hosting environment and work with CSL in a ‘shared responsibility model’. Axis12 is responsible for configuring and deploying cloud services in accordance with the Cloud Security Guidance provided by the National Cyber Security Centre and adhere to the Cloud Security Principles in the design, running, implementation and decommissioning of Services.

We provide multiple environments for development, testing and live (production) versions of the service. All test environments, which are used for the purposes of pre-production, staging or user acceptance testing, mirror the live website and its setup.

User support

We provide second-line and third-line support for the website and Moodle system, and as such respond to, investigate and resolve issues and problems received from first-line support (helpdesk) or the CSL Digital Teams.

Maintenance of servers and systems

We have a dedicated support team who are Security Cleared (SC) to access to bulk live data (classified as Official Sensitive data) and have undergone Counter Terrorism Checks (CTC). The team proactively monitor the websites for vulnerabilities and ensure all necessary patches and upgrades are applied to maintain security, integrity and availability in accordance with the Cloud Security Principles.
