Kew Gardens

Attracting new audiences and increasing online sales for Royal Botanic Gardens

The Client

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a botanical research and education institution. Their mission is to unlock the potential of plants and fungi. Using the rich diversity of their gardens and collections and the power of scientific discovery and research.

The Challenge

Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew) is a world heritage site. It comprises of 121-hectares of research gardens. They were looking to increase online sales by attracting new audiences. Then convert these into garden visits.

Kew Gardens were using a legacy platform. This was becoming more complex and expensive to maintain and support. They wanted to move to an open source option that would be more suited to supporting their future aims.

The Solution

Based on the needs of the Kew Gardens, we wanted to deliver a sustainable cross-platform solution. Providing an optimised browsing experience across a range of devices.

Our team produced an engaging, exciting and clear visual design. This included desktop, tablet and smart phone views. We also reworked all the digital elements used on the site.

Migration of the content on the existing website and Intranet to the new platforms was a major task. Our team assisted in the rationalising and optimisation of content. With the aim of driving the greatest value from Kew's many content assets.

The end result is a site that has reached new audiences and attracted more event sales.
